Susan Cates specializes in employment law consulting and litigation. She has represented clients in cases involving non-compete agreements, wage and hour or misclassification issues, Fair Labor Standards Act collective actions, misappropriation of trade secrets, discrimination and harassment, breach of contract claims, and numerous other commercial litigation disputes. Ms. Cates has obtained temporary restraining orders and injunctions for clients and has also defended clients against such injunctive relief. She has litigated numerous cases in both federal and state courts. Ms. Cates has also represented employers before several administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Texas Workforce Commission.
Ms. Cates became a member of Beard Kultgen Brophy Bostwick & Dickson PLLC in 2020, when she returned to her hometown of Waco. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Cates was a partner at a large law firm in Houston.
