Born and raised in Waco, Mark is a triple graduate of Baylor University, having received his Bachelor of Arts (2006) and Master of Arts (2009) in History prior to earning his Juris Doctorate in May 2016.

In between his MA and JD, Mark earned a Master of Science in Information Studies (2011) from the University of Texas at Austin.  Mark spent two years working as a manuscript archivist at the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History at UT Austin before pursuing a career in law.

Attracted to the rigorous Practice Court program at Baylor Law, Mark developed his advocacy skills by competing in five different moot court and mock trial competitions, including the National Civil Trial Competition.  In March 2016, Mark earned Best Advocate honors at the Houston Regional of the American Association for Justice’s Student Trial Advocacy Competition.

After graduating from Baylor, Mark joined Engvall & York, LLP, a respected litigation firm in Houston, where he specialized in handling cases involving traumatic injuries and severe injuries.  While in Houston, Mark gained tremendous litigation experience, including securing favorable rulings on critical evidence issues in a wrongful death trial the morning he was sworn in to practice law.

Wanting to return home and serve his community, Mark joined Beard Kultgen in January 2019. At home in the courtroom, Mark handles all manner of civil litigation matters, including having first-chaired and second-chaired cases that resulted in favorable judgments for his clients.  Mark has taken and defended depositions, successfully written and argued dispositive motions, and secured favorable settlements in numerous cases.

Mark is also the author of William Cameron Park: A Centennial History (Baylor Press 2010).  When he is not at work, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife, Liza, children, Andrew and Ruthie, and attending Baylor athletic events.
